20 Year Old Fortis Et Astutus
Wine
Bleasdale 20 Year Old Fortis Et Astutus, meaning 'strong and astute', is a rare liqueur tawny. Though it is Grenache dominant, it is blended with other varieties including Shiraz and Verdelho.
The base components age in old brandy kegs stored in the original Langhorne Creek winery, built in 1880. They are placed in the rafters under the hot tin roof, encouraging evaporation and slowly concentrating the wine.
The wine is managed through a modified solera system, where fractional blending allows for consistent style and quality across releases. This wine is blended to a minimum age of 20 years.
Langhorne Creek, with its cool maritime climate, is significantly cooler than traditional fortified regions. It sets Fortis Et Astutus apart, helping to retain freshness and acidity in the maturing wine.
Rich amber, Bleasdale 20 Year Old Fortis Et Astutus is as strong and astute as its name. It has intense rancio flavours, spice and a persistent but subtly sweet finish.
Fully aged in barrel, peak drinking is immediately after release.
